An evening with the locals

This is a unique opportunity to experience some authentic evening entertainment, and get to know the Luang Prabang locals in their own environment. Petanque, or boules, was first introduced to Laos during the French colonial era and has remained a very popular pastime ever since. Your guide will take you to one of Luang Prabang’s multi-lane boule halls, where locals congregate to play and socialise with local drinks and snacks. After challenging your guide to a set or two, you will then be taken for a ‘Sindat’ for dinner, a Lao-style barbecue, at an open-air venue on the banks of the Mekong. Choose from a mesmerising selection of meats, fish and vegetables and cook them at your table on a dome-shaped grill surrounded by a moat of bubbling stock. Unlimited beer or soft drinks is included all evening, and you are encouraged to let your hair down!
