Visit the mudbrick houses of Al Hamra

An easy 40-minute drive north of Nizwa is the venerable town of Al Hamra with its old town, which is still largely made from mudbricks, many dating back for hundreds of years and now looking somewhat crumbly! Much enjoyment can be taken from pottering around the dirt roads and the narrow, winding streets of Al Hamra’s old town with a guide before heading up the road to Misfat Al Abryeen, a two hour walk or a short drive, where you can see more of these remarkable buildings and learn about the ancient ‘falaj’ system of irrigating water.
