Red Mountain Estate Vineyard

Located on the side of Inle Lake, in southern Shan State, the Red Mountain Estate Vineyard produces the best wine in Myanmar. The vineyard is owned by a Pao ethnic group organization and employs a genuine French wine maker to create some excellent wines which have been recognized as among the best produced in Asia. Since the beginning, the wines have been produced with locally grown grapes although the original plants were imported from France and Spain. The wines are made in the tradition of Western wines using all the new technologies and modern equipment, but it the local climate and soil that has allowed wine making to flourish here, when it is not always so successful elsewhere in Asia.

You can tour the vineyard to see how the production process works, and then taste some of the local wine. Lunch is also served here and if you want to make a day of it you can arrive and depart by bike as many lakeside hotels are just a few miles ride away.
