Stay overnight next to a tribal longhouse

In the towns and cities of Borneo, traditional longhouses – where  a number of families all live together within one (long) building – have gradually been replaced by more a modern way of living in separate houses or apartments. However in the jungle of Sarawak you can still see people living in this way. Bamboo Travel can organise an exclusive experience for you, staying 1 or 2 nights in a small jungle lodge next door to an authentic Iban Longhouse, deep in the Batang Ai National Park. Nanga Sumpa is a simple lodge a 2-hour long boat journey upriver from the Batang Ai Resevoir and next door to the Ulu Ai Longhouse community. Visitors are invited to interact with the local Iban community, join them on a fishing trip, enjoy a traditional jungle barbecue lunch and explore their longhouse in the evening – often involving joining the chief for several glasses of home-brewed rice wine!
