Visit Ben Tre in the Mekong Delta

Around 1-2 hours outside Saigon is Ben Tre Province, in the heart of the Mekong Delta. Its location makes it an ideal stop en route from Saigon to locations further into the Delta such as Can Tho. Or for those with less time, it makes a fascinating day trip from Saigon to get a taste of the Delta lifestyle.

After driving from Saigon, on first arrival you will board a short cruise on the river, a great way to see local life. A stop will be made to visit a traditional brick workshop where people still make bricks by hand. At another point on the river you will disembark and be provided with a bicycle for a gentle ride along the picturesque village roads. A motorcart can be provided for those who prefer not to ride a bicycle. There will also be a stop to visit local gardens and fruit orchards as well as a visit to Mr Sau Khanh, a local character with an interesting collection of antiques and stories to tell. After lunch at a local restaurant you can either return to Saigon or continue on to Can Tho, a further 2-3 hour drive.
