Holidays to The Seychelles
One of the world’s great tropical beach destinations, the 115 islands that make up the Seychelles are surrounded by beautiful turquoise water and positioned in the middle of the Indian Ocean. These islands, with their heady mix of white sand beaches, classic blue sea and dramatic rock formations have long been an advertisers’ dream version of ‘paradise’ and are a favourite beach destination of the discerning traveller.
Originally discovered by the Europeans in the 16th Century, and governed by Britain from 1810 to 1976, the Seychelles became the perfect beach getaway in the 1970s when international flights started. Since those early days visitors have kept returning due to a magical allure that combines charm, idyllic scenery and the laid-back way of life that is perfectly suited to relaxation. Life here is particularly easy for UK travellers as the country’s long ties with Britain mean that English is widely spoken.
As well as its beaches, and ‘Robinson Crusoe’ islands, the Seychelles is famed for its flora & fauna. An early adopter of environmental practices the Seychelles allocates 42% of its territory for conservation purposes and as a result is home to some wonderful tropical forests and a spectacular array of birds, mammals, fish, and reptiles including the giant tortoise.
Holidays to the Seychelles offer a choice of modern day sophistication, and a great beach front location, in the upmarket hotels on the main islands or the simpler rustic pleasures offered by the outer islands where there is little to do except decide what to eat and when to swim!
