Shakti Village Walks
Shakti village walks offer cultural immersion, magnificent scenery, and a frankly astounding level of comfort and service for such a remote and undiscovered region. Shakti’s tiny village houses are located in the isolated hamlets of Deora, Kana, and Jwalabanj, all found in the mountainous Kumaon region of Uttrakhand. Each itinerary is flexible and each village house stay is entirely private. Typically, walking between each village house may take around 3-5 hours, but this can be adjusted with more road travel should you prefer. The houses themselves are simple but beyond charming, lovingly restored to accommodate international travellers, but without compromising the character or design of these traditional mountain properties. A comprehensive village walk programme would take approximately 3-5 days, and this can be combined with (and built up to) a stay at the unparalleled Shakti 360 lodge.
We recommend a stay of three nights at Shakti 360, giving two full days to fully appreciate this true once-in-a-lifetime destination. Days at Shakti 360 can include hikes, more gentle walks, time spent at the small charming school close by, or spend time in the kitchen with the chefs. Lunches will either be as picnics on longer hikes, or return for lunch under the shamiana, with mesmerising views down the Ramganga Valley. Enjoy peaceful time reading, playing board games, snoozing – your day is yours to spend as you wish. Evenings are spent around the fire enjoying delightful home-cooked suppers.
