Vietnam War Sites around Hue

Head west out of Hue towards the Vietnam-Laos border, to visit the former DMZ. The area south of the DMZ was the scene of some of the bloodiest battles during the American War. Places of military significance in the area include Quang Tri, the Rock pile, Dakrong Bridge, Khe Sanh, Lang Vay, and Hien Luong Bridge at the 17th Parallel.

You also have the opportunity to learn more about the infamous Ho Chi Minh Trail as you visit the Vinh Moc tunnels, an “underground miniaturized village” and the largest historical tunnel in the DMZ of Vietnam. Walk through the tunnel system and see how life of the Vietnamese people was in the war. There is a small hospital, a well and many separate households inside the tunnel complex.
