Self-Drive Taiwan (15 days)
This 2 week tour includes 8 days of self-drive in a hired car in the south of the Island, exploring the stunning natural beauty and cultural delights independently. Driving conditions around Taipei and in the Taroko National Park are not as suitable for western visitors as the quiet roads in the south so for the first week, you would be exploring with your own driver-guide. Your driver-guide will show you the charms of the capital, Taipei and the stunning natural gorges of the Taroko National Park before you continue south in your hired car, spending time on the rugged east coast around Taitung and next to the beach in Kenting. Continue into the hills for a night in the Maolin National Scenic Area, famous for its aboriginal villages, trekking opportunities and butterflies. After a guided tour around the impressive Fo Guan Shan monastery, your final stop will be for a couple of nights in the atmospheric old colonial city of Tainan with its important cultural sights. At the end of the trip, drop your hired car off at Kaohsiung international airport and fly back to London, via Hong Kong, with Cathay Pacific Airlines.
