Ohara Museum of Art

The Ohara Museum of Art is housed in a grand building at the edge of the picturesque ancient district in Kurashiki. It was originally opened in 1930 and contained only western artworks, but today it also has many impressive paintings by Japanese Artists. Among the collection are pieces by Monet and Picasso, as well as many others. Art lovers will want to allow plenty of time to explore the museum, which is also open into the evening on some days. Tours of the gallery with a guide can be arranged on request. A visit to the Ohara Museum of Art can be included if you are staying in Kurashiki itself or in the nearby city of Okayama.
