Start by taking a ferry across the river to Dalah, where you will be taken on a fun trishaw ride, passing by small neighbourhood pagodas and villages. This is the real Yangon, where most local people live, having been priced out of real estate on the other side of the river. After your fill of Dalah, head back to Yangon, and visit Hla Day which means 'beautiful' in Burmese, where you can browse a selection of top-quality handmade crafts from local artisans. Hla Day's mission is to work with marginalized producers, small family businesses, community groups and local individuals seeking to improve their economic situations. Rather than creating dependency on aid, their fair trade market-based approach enables local people to ethically benefit from their own labour. In the afternoon, you have the option of returning to your hotel to relax by the pool or heading out again with your guide to visit Chinatown, a busy part of town, the famous Bogyoke Market or take a stroll along the waterfront, to see well preserved colonial buildings and street food stalls on the Strand Road.
