China to Laos by Train (17 days)
This tour takes you on an exciting overland journey from Kunming, the capital of China’s Yunnan province, to Vientiane, Lao’s tiny and laid-back capital city, travelling as much as possible by high-speed train. Although a large provincial capital, Kunming is an attractive and pleasant city due to its green parks and year-round Spring-like climate. Travel from Kunming along the high-speed train line through southern Yunnan province, passing through the tea-growing country of Pu’er and exploring the gardens and villages of tropical Xishuangbanna. The train line now extends over the border into Laos, giving you the chance to traverse the distance between the two capitals in speed and comfort. Take a hike around the remote villages of Muang La, relax in charming Luang Prabang, and cycle in the countryside around Vang Vieng, before finishing up in Vientiane.
