Lake Murray Lodge
Lake Murray lodge sits on an island spit overlooking Lake Murray, the largest lake in Papua New Guinea. There are 12 cabin style rooms which offer king twin or double beds, ceiling fans, en-suite bathrooms, and an elevated veranda with a view of the lake. The Main Lodge building, with its 'wraparound' veranda, houses a dining room, lounge, bar and reception area. All of the lodge buildings have made use of local sago woven matting, and timber, to provide a natural look which blends into the location. Also, in keeping with the lodge's eco-friendly philosophy, the entire lodge operation is powered with the latest solar power technology. This provides 24 hour electricity - a luxury in this remote location! Kitchen staff use a wood fired cookstove, and an outdoor grill, to put together dishes using the daily catch and a selection of fresh vegetables and fruit from the lodge garden. The lodge arranges excursions around the lake in 8-seat river boats to visit local villages, birding sites and fishing spots.
