Jorhat is a small, busy town located in Upper Assam towards the eastern reaches of the Brahmaputra river. Ringed by tea plantations, it is the centre of the local tea trade. A stay here will involve exploring the local plantations, walking amongst one of 135 tea gardens, and learning more about vital importance of tea to the local economy. Jorhat is also the gateway to nearby Majuli Island, with ferries leaving throughout the day, and can also be used as an access point into Kaziranga National Park.
