Bharatpur
Bharatpur is a medium-sized town located just west of Agra, en route to Jaipur. Attractions within the city are limited to Lohagarh: a robust, imposing fort in the centre of town, loosely translated as Iron Fort. The main draw of Bharatpur however is nearby Keoladeo Ghana National Park: one of the finest birding spots in India. A national park since the 80s, and World Heritage Site since 1985, Keoladeo is rightly recognised as among the world's most important breeding grounds - a largely marshland area which plays host to some 400 species of birdlife.
