Vang Vieng

Located on the road between Vientiane and Laung Prabang is the enchanting landscape of Vang Vieng. The karst mountains here are reminiscent of those found in Guilin, Southern China. Increasingly visitors prefer to travel overland from Vientiane to Luang Prabang, overnighting in Vang Vieng to enjoy the fabulous riverside scenery.

Although the town itself is small it is worthwhile staying a few days to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the activities that get you out into the countryside. Kayaking on the Nam Song River, trekking, caving, and cycling are some of the various ways you can make the most of these delightful surroundings.
