Hakone National Park

An easy train or road journey from Tokyo, Hakone is a beautiful national park just to the south of Mount Fuji, Japan's most famous and iconic volcano. The area consists of a handful of small villages and hamlets all connected by a variety of local transport, including buses, cable cars and a mountain railway that winds itself through the region's hills and valleys. There is lots to do and see in Hakone and a good transport system to take you around the park – Bamboo Travel clients will be provided with a ‘Hakone Free Pass’ valid on all forms of transport within the park. Highlights include a visit to Lake Ashi and a soak in a natural hot spring bath (Hakone is a great place to experience a stay in a traditional Japanese Inn, known as a ryokan). The other main draw to this area is the proximity to Japan's most sacred and iconic mountain, Fuji-san (Mount Fuji) and visitors have a great chance of getting a view of Mount Fuji from the various view-points to be found throughout the Hakone National Park.
