Formely Delhi’s Aman property, The Lodhi is now privately-run but retains the same air of modernist, spacious luxury. Viewed from the outside the large slate-grey building could be mistaken for a much larger hotel, but improbably there are just 39 rooms – illustrating just quite how much space is at hand. Each room is over 1200sqft of understated elegance, and all boast expansive outdoor plunge pools with sweeping city views. Facilities are numerous: consisting of an elongated pool and café area, well-equipped gym, tennis courts, squash courts, pilates studio, cigar lounge and art gallery. All day dining is available in Elan and On The Waterfront restaurants. The hotel is located in the heart of the Lodhi Gardens district, a stone’s throw from Humayan’s tomb.
