Palais de Mahe is a beautiful, atmospheric property which pairs wonderfully with Pondy's relaxed colonial charm. Colonnades, high ceilings, walls splashed liberally mustard and white - character is found at every turn, not least around airy reception and central pool areas. Each room is of an excellent size, well-equipped and furnished simply but tastefully. Food is a real highlight here, as it should be in the heart of the French Quarter, with the Gallic-Tamil influences all over the menus in both in the onsite restaurant and at the poolside bar.
