Nilambag Palace
In the heart of bustling Bhavnagar is the heritage property of Nilambag Palace Hotel. The palace was constructed in 1879 for Maharaja Saheb Takhatsinhji and remained the home of the erstwhile royal family of Bhavnagar. When India won its independence in 1947 Bhavnagar’s Maharaja, Maharaja Krishna Kumar Singhji, became the first Indian ruler to hand over his kingdom and join sovereign India. In 1984 the palace was converted into a heritage hotel offering 20 rooms and seven royal cottages. Notable facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre and tennis court.
