Travel on to Penang for two nights at the iconic Eastern & Oriental Hotel, then fly south to explore the historical port of Malacca. You then travel to one of the most luxurious and romantic resorts in South East Asia, the Japamala Resort on Tioman Island, and enjoy their unique brand of ‘jungle luxury’, combined with truly outstanding service. Kuala LumpurMorning orientation tour of Kuala Lumpur: This morning you will be taken for an orientation tour of the city covering the major historical landmarks - King`s Palace, National Monument, National Mosque and Merdeka (Independence) Square. Much of the history of the city is depicted here as well as the tradition and cultural heritage of the major communities. Included in this tour is an opportunity to enjoy the panoramic view of the city from the observation deck of the KL Tower.
Afternoon at leisure: This afternoon you have some time free to explore the Malaysian capital independently. KL is a large city, but easy to navigate. The public transport system is extensive and easy-to-use, and English-speakers are always at hand. As with any large, modern capital city there is a wealth of activities, excursions, shopping opportunities, and dining options at hand. Your hotel and guide will be able to suggest a number of good ideas.

Ipoh's Chinese-Malay cuisine is famous throughout the country, so make sure to ask your guide for some recommendations for an authentic local lunch!

Road journey to Penang, via Kuala Kangsar: You will depart Ipoh and be driven due north-west towards the island city of Penang. En-route make a quick sightseeing stop at Kuala Kangsar where you will visit the majestic Ubudiah Mosque and the official palace for the Sultan of Perak. Get back on the road and depart the mainland at Butterworth, then cross the causeway and head straight into Georgetown to check into your hotel. This journey should take around two hours, dependent on local traffic.
Night tour of Penang: In the evening head out with your guide for a tour of the local night market, departing from your hotel at 7pm this evening. Walk through the lively streets, and haggle for goods at the night bazaar before heading to Gurney Drive for dinner, the favourite hangout of Penangites, where courting couples stroll along the seafront and families converge to enjoy the delightful "hawkers food". Expect to sample dishes such as “Mee Goreng”, a Malay noodle stir fried with egg, bean curd, bean sprouts and spicy sauce, or Satay, skewered meat marinated with honey and roasted over an open charcoal flame, and many other Malaysian favourites.

Satay SkewersMorning exploration of Georgetown: This morning set out to explore Penang - the Pearl of the Orient and the oldest British settlement in Malaysia. Penang, with its long history of accepting people from different cultures is at the crossroads of major civilizations. Communities of Arabs, Burmese, Chinese, Eurasians, Malays, Indians, Indonesians and Thais have all come through this island's historic port to make their homes here. Also known as "The Pearl of the Orient", Penang is famous for its history, people, heritage and food. Georgetown, named after King George III of England, is an interesting blend of the old and new. Your morning tour includes Fort Cornwallis which was built by the British East India Company in 1808. See the various attractions in Georgetown including the Khoo Kongsi (Dragon Mountain Hall) clan house with its ancient design constructed to capture the splendour of an Imperial Palace. The tour will take you along interesting districts passing colourful shophouses, elaborately roofed temples, churches, and famous colonial landmarks. Continue to Penang Road for a stroll around the popular Chowrasta Market. The day comes alive quickly at the 100+ year old Chowrasta market in Penang Road as locals make their way through the crammed lanes for their daily shopping. Besides the usual items available in any wet market such as fruits, vegetables, fish and meat, there are stalls offering clothes, shoes and kitchenware. Other food items include fine quality nutmeg products, local fruit pickles & cookies. The original Chowrasta Market was built in 1890 by the George Town municipality. The front portion facing Penang Road was rebuilt in 1920 and has remained virtually unchanged until 1981 when a new market was built in its place.

Road journey to Malacca: On arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, you will be welcomed to Malaysia and taken to your private car, heading south to Malacca, a journey of less than two hours. Upon arrival in Malacca, you will be taken straight to your hotel for check-in, with the rest of the day at leisure.

Half day tour of Malacca & cooking workshop: Today you will be taken on a tour of historical Malacca. You will be taken around the various maritime and cultural sights of this pleasant and historical coastal city, which was founded by the Portuguese and later settled by the Dutch and British. Visit St. John's Fort for a panoramic view of the city, the oldest part of the city Bandar Hilir, St Paul's Hill where St Francis Xavier was interned and Porta de Santiago. Continue to Jonker Street, known as ‘Antique Row', and the Chinese burial site of Bukit China. In the late morning try your hand at Nyonya cooking at the Peranakan Cooking Workshop, and afterwards sample the local cuisine for lunch, to be enjoyed onsite. After lunch go on the Kampung Pantai Walk around the old Malacca riverbanks to hunt for cake moulds & local cooking utensils.

Malaysia FoodTransfer by road and boat from Malacca to Tioman Island: After an early breakfast you will depart your hotel in Malacca to begin your journey out to the tropical island of Tioman. After traversing the width of Peninsular Malaysia you will arrive at the East Coast port of Mersing in the mid-afternoon, before boarding a private resort boat out to Tioman. The boat transfer will take around 1 hour (depending on sea conditions), having you arrive on Tioman shortly before sunset.
