Although traditional Hanok-style accommodation can be found across the city, most is of a very basic standard. Not, however, the case at Rakkojae. This 130 year old traditional house, located in a quiet residential neighbourhood, has been converted into a comfortable boutique hotel, yet still retains every inch of its historic charm. Food is a real highlight, with authentic court cuisine served in-room on low tables. Bedding is on tatami-style mats on the floor – comfortable, but by no means luxurious. A stay at Rakkojae is primarily about the experience: we encourage those looking for an authentic or unconventional stay to give this one a try!
