When to visit - Uzbekistan

The best times to visit Uzbekistan are Spring (April to mid-June) and Autumn (September and October). During these periods the temperature is warm but not sweltering, generally in the high-20s going into the low 30s as summer approaches. These months are by far the busiest times to visit Uzbekistan, so we recommend planning ahead and getting your flights and hotels booked well in advance.

Travelling just before or after the high season would help reduce the number of tourists you are competing with when visiting major sights. March is a good month to consider, as the weather is starting to warm up, but the tourist numbers remain fairly low. March and April do tend to see some rain so remember to bring a light raincoat or umbrella. The summer months do get swelteringly hot, but travelling in late June can still be bearable. Visiting Uzbekistan in the winter brings some very cold temperatures, but if you wrap up warm this can be a great time to visit with a fraction of the crowds as you will see in the peak periods.

From mid-June to the end of August the temperatures soar. July and August are the hottest months, with temperatures often exceeding 40°C in some areas. If you do visit at this time of year, we recommend you keep your sightseeing to the early morning and the evening and avoid being outside during the hottest part of the day. Overnight camping and yurt stays in the desert are best avoided at this time of year.
