Taiwan’s second largest city occupies an enviable stretch of coastline in the south-west of the island and is one of Asia’s largest ports. The Love River and the harbour have been cleaned up and are delightful places to potter around and the city’s principal night market, Liuhe Night Market, is one of the finest on the island. The Lotus Pond in the north of the city is also well worth exploring while those looking for fine seafood should catch the public ferry over to Cijin Island.
