First a school and latterly a printer's house, the Fort Printers is certainly not short on charm. Located within the fort where space is at a premium, this once 18th-century mansion has been transformed into a boutique hotel. All 13 rooms have been elegantly designed with thought and care, and are named after the classrooms they once were - Art Room, History Room, Geography Room, and even Headmaster's Room. They all come with aircon and hot water, but no TVs - encouraging you to spend lazy evenings strolling around the beautifully-preserved Fort area. The in-house restaurant is renowned for its Sri Lankan-Middle Eastern cuisine, and all meals are carefully crafted for the small number of guests staying in the hotel. For those who like their hotels to be small, characterful, and quirky, this is an ideal choice.
