Hatton, Dickoya and Castlereigh

The adjoining towns of Hatton and Dickoya lie just north of the spectacular Castlereigh Resevoir in the heart of Sri Lanka’s Hill Country. Set amongst rolling hills and lush plantations, this region is famous for tea production. There are some fantastic walking trails in the area and those wishing to join the pilgrimage to the top of Adams Peak (or Sri Pada) can relax here before beginning the long climb in the middle of the night to reach the summit in time for sunrise. For the less active, the area still makes a wonderful place to relax and unwind during a tour, with a series of light walks to undertake, tea plantations to visit, and late afternoon gin and tonics to be enjoyed.

Dotted around the Castlereigh Resevoir you will find some of Sri Lanka's top luxury escapes including the famous Tea Trails Bungalows and the stylish Camellia Hills.

Hatton also has a train station on and lies between Kandy and Nuwara Eliya, making it easy for you to arrive or depart by train and enjoy the special experience of a train ride through the hill country – one of the most scenic anywhere in the world.
