Alotau & Milne Bay
Alotau is a small provincial town in the southeast of Papua New Guinea that overlooks the scenic Milne Bay which saw serious action in World War II. As a result Alotau has a number of war memorials and other relics of interest for the history buff and families of WW2 combatants. It is also home to the exciting Milne Bay Canoe & Kundu Festival which takes place in November each year.
Milne Bay on the other hand is the gateway to the South Pacific and home to 435 islands, and a diverse range of people, making it a popular place for anthropologists and those seeking to learn about the Polynesian way of life.
