The Anavila is located on the banks of the Irrawaddy River, conveniently close to Bagan’s archaeological zone and just 20 minutes’ drive from the airport. A new concept for Bagan, this luxury villa property combines the disciplines of European architecture and Burmese aesthetics, and has been built preserving the original trees and adapting the landscape to ensure that all its rooms are private, and closely connected to the nature that surrounds them. The interior of each room is unique, with textiles and furniture from Burma and other countries in the region. Each villa has panoramic windows overlooking the treetops, a private veranda and some villas offer a roof terrace with views over the nearby temples and the river. Several villas have outside baths cut from one piece of marble stone. The bedrooms are also equipped modern amenities. Guests can dine at the in-house restaurant - which serves an enticing menu of healthy Mediterranean and Burmese specialties. Other facilities include the infinity salted pool - which hangs 6 metres above the bank of the Irrawaddy River, the Bar – which provides the perfect spot to watch the sunset, and a traditional Burmese Teak House – where guests can watch local craftspeople at work or learn the techniques of Burmese cooking.
