Zhiwa Ling Hotel
The Bhutanese owned Zhiwa Ling Hotel has 45 rooms and aims to combine the inherent hospitality of a traditional Bhutanese guesthouse with the best of modern day technology. The hotel's main building features elaborate hand-carved wooden cornices, traditional local decoration and Swedish underfloor heating in the rooms. Other rooms, all with a private bathroom, are set in blocks in the ten acres of landscaped gardens. Facilities include a tea house, a meditation room, two restaurants specialising in contemporary international cuisine and classic Bhutanese dishes, the Mad Monk Bar and a spa that offers a fitness centre, a sauna, a steam room as well as a traditional Bhutanese outdoor hot-stone bath. Honoring the spiritual heritage of this ancient Buddhist kingdom, a temple has been built into the second floor of the hotel, made with 450-year-old timbers from the famous Gangtey Monastery.
