Geoje Island is an attractive coastal outcrop located just under 2 hours from Busan. Geoje-do is sparsely-populated (by Korean standards), covered in pine forest and ringed by sandy coves and high cliffs. It has a rich naval history - the site of Admiral Yi Sun-Shin's most famous battles - and a steady industry of shipbuilding continues to this day. Coastal walking is the key attraction here, as is fresh seafood and enjoying a more placid air than nearby Busan. Accommodation is found in nearby Tongyeong, a busy port city just across the causeway from Geoje-do.
