Packing Advice
Back to all travel tipsWhat to pack
It is much easier to travel with lightweight luggage. We therefore suggest that you pack lightly taking casual clothes for the most part. A comfortable pair of walking shoes is a necessity. Take a few shirts, sweaters and a jacket (depending on the season and part of the country) that can be worn in layers if you are travelling in a variety of regions. A jacket and tie for men (or the Philippine barong tagalong) and one or two dresses for women will work on most formal occasions but will only really be needed if you are staying at the best hotels. Light clothing made from natural fibres is useful most of the year around and a sweater or jacket is needed when touring in mountainous regions. When visiting churches and temples, propriety dictates that shorts and scanty clothing be avoided. When packing accessories take only the items that you will really use. Bear in mind that there will be opportunities to buy clothes etc when you are in Manila or Cebu, although you may prefer to take along your favourite brands.
