The island of Koh Chang is Thailand’s second largest and is one of 42 islands that make up the Koh Chang Marine National Park, near the Cambodian border. Mainly due to its isolated position development has passed Koh Chang by, until recently when a range of new hotels have given visitors a reason to consider it a serious alternative to Phuket or Koh Samui.
There are no direct flights and visitors arrive by car, and then ferry, from Bangkok or else they take the short flight from Bangkok to Trat and transfer from there. As well as beaches the island has a mountainous interior offering waterfalls and trekking.
