Yangmingshan National Park
A short journey north of Taipei is the Yangmingshan National Park which has flora and fauna galore and is a particularly good place to visit during the cherry blossom season in March and April. The park is also awash with volcanic geysers and you are never far from the smell of sulphur! The smell doesn't deter the locals, however, and the park is a popular place for the people of Taipei to escape to do some hiking, cycling or just to relax in a hot spring.
The volcanic hot spring resorts around the Yangmingshan National Park are a particular draw for the locals. Stretching from Beitou, on the edge of Taipei, to Jinshan near the north coast, these are great places to revitalize and experience Taiwan's vibrant hot spring culture.
