Indawgyi Lake is one of the largest inland lakes in Southeast Asia and is located in Myanmar’s Kachin State. The lake measures around 8 miles east to west, and around 15 miles north to south. There are over 20 villages around the lake making it a wonderfully scenic place to visit and, as well as local tribes, it is also home to a great variety of animal species, including rare mammals and birds such as Greylag Geese, Oriental Darters and Purple Swamphens. A tour of the lake will take in the  Shwe Myitzu Pagoda which stands sentinel in the middle of the lake as well as a number of the surrounding lake-side villages where you can learn about the local lifestyle and see local fishermen in action.
