Yandabo is a peaceful village on the banks of the Irrawaddy River midway between Mandalay and Bagan. In years gone by the Treaty of Yandabo, which ended the First Anglo-Burmese War, was signed here on 24 February 1826. These days the village makes a convenient stopping point for cruises making their way between Mandalay and Bagan. For those wishing to take a more leisurely paced journey to, or from Bagan, there is now a nice boutique hotel where guests can see country life beside the river and learn about the clay pot making that the village is famous for.
