Naoshima Island
Previously a pretty but unknown island in the Seto Inland Sea with nothing but a small fishing village, Naoshima has shot to fame due to its unique art project. Naoshima is home to a large collection of contemporary art galleries, exhibits and sculptures and is very highly regarded in the world of contemporary art. Its two main galleries are the Chichu Art Museum and Benesse House and they house works by the likes of Claude Monet and Andy Warhol as well as a big selection of famous Japanese artists. Being just 14 km² The island is easy to explore in one day either on foot or by bike. We can arrange for bike or e-bike hire from where the ferry arrives at Miyanoura Port.
