Located on the slopes of north Bali at an altitude of 700m, Munduk is a small mountain village overlooking the Java Sea and the region offers rewarding walks through rice terraces, coffee and spice plantations. The village has an interesting history, including from the times of the Dutch administration when Bali's first hotel was built here in 1927 as a colonial weekend retreat. This small farming community is famous for its arts and crafts, spiritual traditions, authentic market, and is a great place to see a traditional Balinese way of life.
