Shenzhen - Guangdong Province

At one time in the not-too-distant past Shenzhen was just a small town surrounded by paddy fields. Its status as a Special Economic Zone in the 1980s changed all that and in the last few decades Shenzhen has become one of the most dynamic and important cities in China with towering skyscrapers, a vibrant economy and over 10 million inhabitants. Serving as a gateway from mainland China into Hong Kong, Shenzhen enjoys great diversity, comparative wealth in relation to the rest of Southern China, and a burgeoning reputation as one of China’s most desirable cities to live in.
