Yangzhou - Jiangsu Province

A former Chinese capital, Yangzhou has evolved into a pleasant small modern city at the confluence of the Yangtze River and the Grand Canal in southern Jiangsu Province. Although not on most traditional tourist routes, for those with an interest in Chinese history Yangzhou is a must-visit destination. The city has many fine examples of Qing Dynasty architecture, such as the He & Ge Gardens, and the well-preserved Wang's Residence, former home of a succesful salt merchant.
