Hailuogou - Sichuan Province

Hailuogou is a national park located southeast of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, a part of Sichuan Province, famous for its glaciers and other dramatic landscapes. Inside the park there are hanging glaciers, ice caves, giant icefalls, hot springs and a swathe of pristine forest. One of the main sights in the park is the Great Icefall which is 1,000 metres long and 1,100 meters’ wide. The park at Hailuogou is overlooked by Mount Gongga, often referred to as the 'King of Mountains', making it a wonderfully scenic place to visit - and a far cry from the modernity of Chengdu which is around 7 hours' drive away.
