The Temples & Trains of Burma (18 days)

The journey starts in Mandalay, with its vibrant streets and surrounding ancient capitals, before heading up to the former hill station of Pyin Oo Lwin, where you will travel by train over the spectacular Gokteik viaduct. Next you will visit another rural hill station, Kalaw, nestled in the Shan Hills, and from here you will travel through picturesque countryside to the sleepy town of Shwe Nyaung and then on by road to your hotel on the shores of Inle Lake. Later there will be two days marvelling at the ancient temples of Bagan, including a side trip to Mount Popa. The tour continues through Yangon and then deep down in the Irrawaddy Delta. Here you will explore the dramatic Golden Rock, the rich countryside of Hpa-An, and then vintage Mawlamyine – the former capital of British Burma. You will then return by train to Yangon, where your tour concludes with an overnight stay in the bustling Burmese capital.
