The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat

The Banjaran is a luxury hotspring retreat, found on the edge of Ipoh, around 2 hours' drive north of KL (or 3 hours' from the international airport). The setting is quite staggering: tall, Paleozoic limstone peaks towering above a steaming geothermal hot spring lake. Dotted throughout the carefully-manicured jungle paths are 45 luxurious water, lake & garden villas - the latter of which are privately enclosed and feature private plunge pools and jacuzzis. Fine-dining can be found in the Pomolo Restaurant, with a wide variety of after-dinner refreshment available in the almost Bond-villain-like Jeff's Cellar (set inside a 260 million-year old natural cave. There is also a dedicated spa - offering some 40+ varieties of holistic treament - a large pool, plus hot and cold dipping pots, a steam cave, and a meditation cave.

Our Opinion

A totally unique experience. Good for several days of doing nothing at all, in the most dramatic of surroundings.
