Ubud

Ubud was once a small town in the heart of Bali's rice growing region which was home to Bali's Royal Family and became the island's cultural and artistic centre. In more recent years this once small town has developed into a laid-back community of artists and craftsmen, and a place where visitors can soak up some Balinese culture and mingle with the locals going about their daily routines.

Ubud offers a diverse selection of atmospheric hotels dotted around the paddy fields, classic dance theatres, art galleries and a wonderful selection of restaurants. The cool atmosphere and soothing panoramas created by the endless green paddy fields make walking and cycling popular activities in the area, or for a less strenuous experience Ubud is a great place to have a traditional Balinese cooking class.
